Commercial Litigation

Acting for a company against its former bookkeeper. The bookkeeper had embezzled a substantial sum of money from his employer. Liam obtained a freezing injunction against the former employee, a charge against his property and recovered a substantial sum of money from the former employee.

Acting for a building contractor. Liam successfully sued a major house builder for £100,000+ for monies owed but disputed.

Acting on behalf of the beneficiaries of an estate. Liam successfully brought a claim in negligence against a solicitor who had negligently prepared a Will.

Acting for a building contractor. Liam successfully sued a major house builder for breach of contract. In breach of the contract, the house builder had ceased to appoint the building contractor and had instead appointed a different contractor.

Acting on behalf of an injured person. Liam took over conduct of a personal injury claim where the first solicitor had missed the primary limitation period. Liam issued legal proceedings and settled against the Defendant’s insurers.

Acting for a business owner. Liam successfully defended a substantial claim by the business owner’s former employer for alleged breach of restrictive covenants.

Acting for a private individual. Liam brought a successful claim against a relative for a substantial sum of money owed, obtained a charge over the debtor’s property and subsequently obtained an order for sale.

Acting for a Working Mens Club. Liam brought a successful claim against its former Bar Steward after he stole the weekend’s takings. Liam brought a separate action  to evict the Bar Steward from his tied accommodation.

Civil Litigation

Acting on behalf of a victim of identity fraud. Liam successfully defended a claim by a finance company for repayment of monies allegedly owed under a credit agreement.

Acting on behalf of a consumer. The consumer had put down a sizeable deposit on a car but changed his mind. As the purchase had been made over the  telephone the consumer was entitled to cancel within 7 days however the seller refused to return the deposit. Liam issued legal proceedings and was able to recover the full deposit.

Property Disputes

Acting on behalf of a private individual. Liam successfully brought a claim against a family member under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustee’s Act. Initially, the family member was refusing to acknowledge the interest that his relative had in the property. Legal proceedings were issued and a settlement was subsequently agreed.

Acting on behalf of a private individual. On this occasion Liam successfully defended a claim by a family member under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustee’s Act. The opponent lived with his relative and had carried out some work to the house. He brought a claim alleging that he had an interest in the property however the claim was successfully resisted.

Building Disputes

Acting for a couple. Liam successfully brought a claim against a builder for defective workmanship. The builder had built a chimney stack that was defective and did not comply with building regulations. Liam brought a claim against the builder and was able to force the builder to take down and reinstate the chimney stack.

Acting for a couple. Liam successfully defended a claim by a builder for monies allegedly owed under a building contract.

Acting for a couple. Liam successfully brought a claim against a company that installed bespoke high end bedroom furniture. The installation was not carried out with reasonable care and skill and Liam issued legal proceedings and was able to recover monies paid.

Probate Disputes

Acting for a beneficiary under a Will.  Liam successfully defended a claim on the estate by an estranged relative who had been left out of the Will.

Acting on behalf of the beneficiaries of an estate. Liam successfully defended a claim on the estate for monies allegedly owed by the testator to a third party.

Employment Disputes

Acting on behalf of an employee. Liam successfully brought a claim for constructive dismissal and sex discrimination against her former employer. The employee had been pressured to resign after her employers found out that she was pregnant.

Acting for a pub landlord. Liam successfully defended a claim for unfair dismissal. The landlord had been having problems with stock shortages and had suspicions about a certain employee. The employee was subsequently dismissed however he brought a claim for unfair dismissal. The case went to trial however the tribunal found in favour of the employer.

Acting on behalf of an employee. Liam brought a successful claim for unfair dismissal against a national travel company. The claim settled at trial.

Acting for a building contractor. Liam successfully defended a claim for unfair dismissal.

Acting for an employer. The employer was faced with a claim for unfair dismissal. One of the main issues in this case was whether the contract was illegal on the basis of cash payments to the employee. Liam had this issue dealt with at a preliminary hearing and had the case struck out.
